Brian and his wife Darlene moved to Greenville in 2001, beginning a new chapter rooted in family, parish life, and service. Together they raised two children, both alumni of Our Lady of the Rosary School, where faith and formation shaped the rhythm of their home life. Before ordination, Brian and Darlene were already embedded in parish ministry, serving on the school board, preparing young couples for marriage, and walking closely with the parish youth groups.
Deacon Brian serves the church while working a secular career as an engineer. He brings the discipline of engineering into his life of ministry; literally and spiritually building things that are ordered, sound, and meant to endure. He embraces a ministry shaped by the words of Christ: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful,” reminding others that the Gospel is meant to be lived with patience, forgiveness, and humility.
Brian visits the local state prison weekly to lead fellowship and Bible study for inmates seeking Christ or deepening their Catholic faith. His ministry extends further into advocacy for those on death row and broader efforts surrounding elimination of the death penalty in South Carolina. Through execution vigils for the Diocese of Charleston and involvement with Catholic Mobilizing Network and South Carolinians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, he stands as a public witness to the Church’s call to uphold the dignity of every human life, even in its most broken and final moments.
Deacon Brian also coordinates the Fellowship of Saint Joseph; our parish men’s group open to all who seek to grow in faith and fraternity. Silent yet steadfast like Saint Joseph, the group gathers in prayer, fellowship, and encouragement; learning to be men who listen, serve, and lead with quiet courage.
